What causes Back Pain in Females?

Females experience more back pain when compared to men. Here are a few noted causes;

Muscle Strain:

Muscle strain and ligaments are the leading causes of back pain in females. It is due to increased physical activity or strain applied to the back and other body parts. Hence it is one of the common causes in both males and females.

Osteoporosis is also one of the causes of back pain in females. The spine's vertebrae can become painful breaks in the bones which can become porous and brittle.

Pregnancy is also one of the causes of back pain during the later stages. The fetus puts pressure on the spine, supporting the muscles and ligaments. These ligaments stretch and soften during pregnancy.

The pelvis becomes less supported in this case and also triggers back pain in the people. The reason for back pain is the rapid weight growth and weight gain in people.

Mental stress is also one of the causes which contribute to back pain in women. As the involuntary muscles in the back tighten, it contributes to the back as stress can worsen back pain during pregnancy, which is a major life change.

Pelvic Inflammatory Disease:

Pelvic Inflammatory disease is also one of the causes of emerging back pain in women. Such symptoms include lower back pain, abdominal pain, unusual vaginal discharge, etc. All these can be hazardous if not treated properly or left untreated.

In Ayurveda, back pain is often attributed to an imbalance in the body's vata dosha, resulting in back pain. Vata Dosha governs the overall movement and nervous system in the body. Herbal Remedies:

Apart from having an appropriate oil massage, adapting to effective herbal remedies can also help to alleviate back pain. Some commonly used herbs include Shallaki, Guggulu, Ashwagandha, and Ginger. However, these herbs can have anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.

Lifestyle and Dietary Modifications:

Ayurveda emphasizes the role of a healthy lifestyle and diet in managing back pain. Practicing gentle yoga asanas, such as the Cat-Cow pose, Child's pose, and gentle twists, can help improve flexibility and strengthen the back. Maintaining a proper posture, avoiding prolonged sitting or standing, and incorporating regular exercise into your routine are also advisable.
